The Farringtons and the Mileses return to their remote country home from an evening out to discover the house ransacked and the valuables missing. They cannot call the police because the telephone wires have been cut and Barbara cannot remember whether she set the alarm. Guest Trevor is sent to find a phonebox to raise the alarm while John goes to search the grounds for the perpetrators. Before he can go however, Trevor is confronted by a very suspicious Detective Chief Inspector.
The DCI is soon unmasked as the criminal mastermind behind the burglary, apprehended and tied up ready to be handed over to the police. The householders however had not bargained on capturing such a slippery character who has, during his snooping, found out secrets which if revealed will threaten friendships and marriages.
This witty comedy, full of clever dialogue, incredible situations and reversals of fortune, will provide an entertaining evening with plenty of laughs.
